The India’s Translational Research Initiative (ITRI), a nation-wide, collaborative philanthropic initiative aiming to augment the translational research ecosystem and catalyse the lab-to-market journey of academic innovations.
India produces world-class research but struggles to convert it into scalable innovations: a gap often referred to as the “Valley of Death” between laboratory invention and market adoption.
ITRI functions as a platform, not a fund.
It doesn’t conduct research directly or seek profit. Instead, it facilitates institutional partnerships, mobilizes resources, and ensures smooth operational alignment across multiple TRCs.
CEO-India’s Translational Research Initiative(ITRI)
Dr. Abdur Rub is a translational research leader with 20+ years of global experience across engineering, healthcare, and life sciences. He has led institutions like WRCB at IIT Bombay, Xcode Life Sciences, and held leadership roles at A*STAR, Singapore. His work bridges research, entrepreneurship, and executive leadership, advancing India’s knowledge economy.
Founder
Mirik Gogri, Head of Corporate Strategy at Aarti Industries, has set up a world-class R&D facility and driven sustainability initiatives across the company. He is also the principal at Spectrum Impact, a family office which has strategically deployed capital in 100+ impact-focused organizations globally. He is an IIT Bombay graduate in Metallurgical Engineering & Materials Science.
Translational research bridges the journey from scientific discovery to market deployment.
It covers the intermediate stages (Technology Readiness Levels 4–7), involving prototype development, validation, and pilot production transforming academic insight into usable technologies and enterprises.
By enabling this transition, translational research turns knowledge into impact: driving industrial innovation, employment, and national self-reliance.
